POSITION SUMMARY
The Direct Care Technician (DCT) works on-site at Hope Ranch to help maintain a safe, structured, supportive, and therapeutic residential environment. The DCT provides direct supervision and day-to-day support to patients while working closely with counselors, nurses, therapists, and other members of the treatment team.

This position assists patients with daily routines, reinforces treatment expectations, monitors safety and behavior, and provides appropriate support during challenging or crisis situations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
· Provide direct supervision and support to patients in the residential treatment environment.
· Maintain a safe, structured, respectful, and recovery-focused environment.
· Monitor patient activities, behaviors, and compliance with program rules and treatment expectations.
· Conduct and document patient rounds, headcounts, and other required safety checks.
· Assist patients with daily schedules, meals, groups, recreational activities, appointments, and other program activities.
· Encourage patient participation in treatment and reinforce healthy behaviors, personal responsibility, and appropriate boundaries.
· Observe patients for changes in behavior, mood, or condition and promptly communicate concerns to appropriate clinical or supervisory staff.
· Respond appropriately to behavioral concerns, emergencies, and crisis situations in accordance with Hope Ranch policies and procedures.
· Complete required shift documentation, incident reports, logs, and other records accurately and timely.
· Assist with admissions, childcare, discharges, room assignments, and patient belongings as directed.
· Maintain patient confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times.
· Work collaboratively with counselors, nurses, therapists, recovery support staff, and other members of the treatment team.
· Participate in staff meetings, required training, and continuing education.
· Perform other duties as assigned that are consistent with the position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High school diploma or GED required.

Age: Must be at least 21 years of age.

Experience: Experience working in behavioral health, substance use treatment, residential care, healthcare, or a related setting is preferred.

Other Requirements:
· Ability to successfully complete required background and pre-employment screening.
· CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain certification within the required timeframe.
· Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and professional boundaries.
· Ability to remain calm and respond appropriately during emergencies or challenging situations.
· Ability to work assigned shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
· Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record if driving is required as part of assigned duties.

PHYSICAL & WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position requires regular interaction with patients throughout a residential treatment facility and may require extended periods of standing and walking, bending, lifting, and responding quickly to patient or facility needs. The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
